Confirm your dentist participates

Network participation changes. Before treatment, confirm directly with the dental office that it accepts the specific plan and network — our guide to in-network vs out-of-network care explains why this matters. A carrier's online directory is a starting point, not a confirmation of participation.

Consider predetermination for major services

For crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, and other major work, ask the dental office to submit a predetermination of benefits before treatment begins. Predetermination is the carrier's written estimate of what the plan may pay for a proposed treatment plan — the most reliable way to avoid surprises.
